Shyam Piya

TRACK 4: SHYAM PIYA

Jogan means one who has abandoned all worldly attachments for her beloved. In this case, beloved refers to Shyam (worshipped as God in the Vedic tradition) Hence, this is a song of longing and begging to be accepted in His realm.

My beloved Shyam I will be your ‘jogan’

In every birth I will say the same, that you are my beloved because I have detached every thing to become yours only.

Whether it is evening and the sun is setting , or early morning when it is rising

Twenty-four hours my mind resonates the same thoughts.

I will behold your beautiful face with my eyes,

Yes I will decorate you with these hands of mine.

I am thirsty for even a glimpse of you,

In every birth I will say the same, that you are my beloved because I have detached every thing to become yours only.

In my mind only your form resides.

There is no one like you any where

Your fragrance is constantly on my breath

You are residing in the strings of my love (like a string of pearls that are bound together)

I will be the servant at your doorstep waiting to serve upon you

In every birth I will say the same, that you are my beloved because I have detached every thing to become yours only.

Without you there is no tomorrow

And if there is no tomorrow, then my mind cannot function

My mind is roaming constantly in the sound (of your flute since Shyam plays the bamboo flute)

At every moment only your melody is vibrating in my mind,

I am aspiring to be in at least one glance of yours

In every birth I will say the same, that you are my beloved because I have detached every thing to become yours only.

My beloved Shyam I will be your ‘jogan’

In every birth I will say the same, that you are my beloved because I have detached every thing to become yours only.
